What it is

Spoolbound is a pixel-art tycoon about running a 3D-printing shop. Printers make parts, parts assemble into products, products fill contracts, and money buys better machines. You start in a garage with nothing and dig your way out. The machines and materials behave like real ones, and if you print, you will recognise all of it.

You are employee number one of your own company rather than a manager of other people — your own time is the constraint, and what you buy later is a way of buying that time back. The fiction is grounded in how the machines and materials actually behave, and the machine names are invented from printing vocabulary rather than borrowed from anything on sale.

Assets

Right-click to save, or use them straight from here. The gameplay shots are from a release build with the developer spawn disabled, against save files produced by playing the simulation forward from a cold start — no money granted, nothing unlocked for the camera. Everything on screen is placeholder geometry rather than final art.

Things we are not claiming

So nobody has to write and ask: it is being built for iPhone, and nothing else is announced. It is not the first game about 3D printing and does not claim to be — it is the one built for a phone. And it is not finished.

Anything not described on this page has not been announced. If you need to know whether something is in, ask rather than assume — hello@spoolbound.com reaches a person, and a straight answer is cheaper for both of us than a correction.
